Today - January 20, 2009

If I were not 38 weeks pregnant, I would like to be in Washington DC celebrating this amazing day and the dawn of renewed hope for our country with 2 million others. Instead, I am watching the images from the warmth of my living room with a cup of hot chocolate. I hope the joy and unity exhibited by those on the Mall this morning is felt by all Americans today, and I hope these feelings continue during the days, months, and years ahead. It is a magnificent day.

*April 5 - Start birth control pills
*April 7 - MTB and I start Doxycycline
*April 17 - Injection training
*April 18 - Sono, mock transfer and start Lupron
*April 25 - Last birth control pill
*May 3 - Start stims (Follistim & Menopur)
*May 12 - Trigger
*May 14 - Egg retrieval (16 eggs, 8 mature, 8 fertilized)
*May 15 - Start progesterone shots
*May 17 - Embryo transfer (transferred 2 grade A eight celled embryos and 1 grade B eight celled embryo)(bedrest x 4 days)
*May 28 - First beta of 48 at 14 dpo (my mother's birthday)
*May 30 - Second beta of 93 at 16 dpo (my birthday)
*June 4 - Third beta of 845 at 21 dpo
*June 11 - First sono - 6w0d, baby measures 3.1 mm and we saw the heartbeat! (my father-in-law's birthday)
*June 18 - Second sono - 7w0d, baby measures 7.9 mm and the heartbeat is strong.
*June 25 - Third sono - 8w0d, baby measures 15.4 mm and the heartbeat is still going strong.
*July 2 - Fourth sono - 9w0d, baby measures 2.34 centimeters.
*July 8 - First OB appointment - 9w6d, baby measures 3.19 centimeters and the heartbeat is 151 bpm.
*July 16 - Quick OB appoinment - 11w0d, heartbeat was a strong 166 bpm.
*July 24 - Nuchal scan - 12w1d, ChooChoo measures 6.11 centimeters and the heartbeat was strong. The nuchal scan is normal.
*August 6 - Prenatal checkup - 14w0d, heartbeat is a strong 159 bpm.
*August 18 - Prenatal checkup - 15w5d, ChooChoo's heartbeat is 158 bpm.
*September 2 - Big Ultrasound - 17w6d, ChooChoo is a girl!! And perfectly healthy.
*September 17 - Prenatal checkup - 20w0d, ChooChoo's heartbeat is 150 bpm, and everything is perfect.
*October 2 - Follow up ultrasound - 22w1d, ChooChoo is perfect.
*October 15 – Prenatal checkup – 24w0d, ChooChoo's heartbeat is 146 bpm and all is well.
* November 13 - Prenatal checkup and follow-up ultrasound - 28w1d, ChooChoo is in the 53rd percentile in terms of growth and her heartbeat was 147 bpm. Also got the RhoGAM shot. Passed the gestational diabetes screen, but iron is low.
*November 26 - Prenatal checkup - 30w0d, Everything is going great!
*December 10 - Prenatal checkup - 32w0d, Baby is great and no significant events or changes since the last appointment.
*December 22 - Prenatal checkup - 33w5d, Baby is doing great and everything measures well.
*January 6 - Unscheduled prenatal checkup - 35w6d, OB suspects that painful cramping is caused by some sort of spasming esophageal thing. Results of blood work for pre-e and GBS test negative.
*January 9 - Ultrasound - 36w2d, Perinatologist estimates her weight to be 6 pounds, 11 ounces.
*January 16 - Prental checkup and ultrasound - 37w2d, Everything looks good, and induction is set for Jan 28!
*Jan 21 - Prenatal checkup - 38w0d, Baby is not engaged, 0% effacement, no dilation.
*Jan 23 - Ultrasound - 38w2d, Baby and fluid levels are good. Baby is estimated to weigh 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Scheduled c/section.
*Jan 28 - ChooChoo's birthday - 39 weeks

Our TTC History

Cycle ten, April 30: IVF cycle - Retrieval on May 14 where the we got 16 eggs, 8 were mature, and 8 fertilized. Transfer on May 17 of 2 grade A eight celled embryos and 1 grade B eight celled embryo. Positive blood test on May 28 (my mother's birthday) of 48 and second beta of 93 on May 30 (my birthday)!

Cycle nine, April 3: Gearing up for IVF! Birth control pills for 21 days and started Lupron on CD 16. No TTC this month.

Cycle eight, March 7: Met w RE for IVF consult. Decided that this would be an injects/IUI cycle to see how my body would react to the drugs. IUI on March 20 with 3 mature follies resulted in BFN.

Cycle seven, Feb 5: Baseline sono on CD 3 revealed what looked like fluid in my tube. Follow-up sono showed that it was nothing, and started Clomid on the same day. Sono on CD 9 showed several small but good size follies. Sono on CD11 showed that I was O'ing without the trigger, but another sono on CD15 showed that I had not and triggered same day. Yet another sono on CD 18 showed that I had finally O'd. Bloodwork on March 3 showed BFN.

Cycle six, Jan 7: Took the Clomid challenge test CD 5-9. Day 3 blood work showed FSH was 4.5 and Estradiol was 18, and test for Cystic Fibrosis was negative. Sonohysterogram on day 10 was normal and FSH was 3.9. Trigger shot on CD 12 when two follicles measured 25mm on the left and 21 mm on the right. Continued taking acupuncture once a week and the herbal treatments as well. Short 29 day cycle ended with a BFN.

Cycle five, Dec 8: Continued acupuncture, and still using generic OPK's in addition to temping and using the Ovacue just because I am a control freak. Everything lined up perfectly, and all methods indicate O on CD 16. BD timing was great until DH got sick the day I O'd. Met w RE for the first time on Jan 2, and he will perform some additional blood tests as well as Clomid challenge test during next cycle. RE also increased folic acid intake. Normal cycle that ended w BFN.

Cycle four, Nov 6: First cycle using new Ovacue fertility monitor, which suggested O on CD 16 compared to FF which suggested CD 18 according to temps. Ob/Gyn tested FSH on CD3, and it was 5.3, which is well within normal range. I had my first acupuncture treatment on the last day of the cycle. Normal cycle that ended with a BFN.

Cycle three, Oct 4: Post D&C cycle, and not sure what to expect. My temps were strange, but FF says I O'd on CD 21. My doctor initially suggested that we wait one cycle, but on my post-op visit, he said that he wouldn't be concerned if we were to get pregnant immediately. Doctor performed some baseline blood work and everything is normal. Although we were not officially trying, it was still disappointing to see the BFN.

Cycle two, July 25: First full cycle temping. BFP at 11 DPO! We had our baby for 54 wonderful days, and on Oct 3, we found out that our baby's heartbeat had stopped. Although I expected to be 9 weeks 5 days, the baby measured 8 weeks 1 day. After a D&C on Oct 4, we are working on mending our broken hearts and searching for the strength and courage to bring our baby into this world. I refuse to believe that all our hopes and dreams for our baby will never come true, and I refuse to believe that we will never again experience the joy we had in the short time we had our baby. Instead, we choose to believe that this is a chance for a new beginning, and our baby will be with us soon!

Cycle one, June 17: Our first cycle charting. Prenatal check-up with new Ob/Gyn. Well woman exam and sonogram all normal. Started temping late in the cycle, so I am not sure when I O'd. Eventually, it was a long cycle that ended with a BFN.

Many cycles of no prevention and no results.
