36w0d

So after a few more hours, I called. Because of what I described and my high blood pressure, the nurse wanted me to come in just to be sure. Long story short, everything is fine. Based on what I was feeling, the OB on-call didn't believe it was contractions but rather some sort of spasming esophageal thing. I don't remember exactly what he called it, and although it's not that common, it's not unheard of in the last weeks of pregnancy. He ordered some blood work just to check for possible preeclampsia, and I should get the results in a few days.

While I was there, they went ahead and did all the stuff they planned to do on Friday. I should have the results of the GBS test in a day or two. I had expected an internal check, but he didn't do one. Fundus is 35 centimeters. I gained 1 pound over the holidays, and I am up a total of 22 pounds since transfer and 27 pounds since the beginning of the IVF cycle. Blood pressure is still high. Ultrasound is still scheduled for this Friday. I have an appointment with my own OB next week, and hopefully I will have a better idea about any possible induction then.

Thanks to all for your suggestions to call. I am trying to balance my normal paranoid, neurotic, freaked-out, hypochondriac pregnant self with being a good patient. It's hard.

I am so glad you called! And don't ever worry about being a freaked-out pregnant woman... it's your job to worry about the baby.

Glad everything's okay. Don't worry about being a good patient. I'm sure your doctor would want you to call if you are experiencing anything different than normal for you.

You've got to figure you're never the most high maintenance person they've ever had in there. Nor the grossest "down there." There's always someone worse!

Even when my water DID break with JTC, they still tested it (with a pH strip or something) to make sure it wasn't pee. It had been flowing for 2 hours at that point - I was pretty sure!!!

I can't believe it's 36w ... that's AWESOME! And things are going so well - yay!!!

Big (big enuf to wrap around a 36w belly) hugs,
Polly

I'm glad you decided to call and go in. You are doing great and I can imagine these last weeks are increasingly difficult. Sending lots of hugs and hoping all continues to go well.
