Tons of ketchup

The past few days have been a flurry of activity.

We picked up the new car on Tuesday evening, and it’s great. Huge, but great.

Wednesday morning, MTB and I made it to our 30 week prenatal appointment. All is well with the baby, and my OB suggested that this is going to be a big baby. At the 28 week ultrasound, she was in the 53rd percentile, so we are not expecting a 6 pounder. MTB and I were both just over 8 pounds so I will be very surprised if ChooChoo is anything less. At the 28 week appointment, the guy I was less than impressed with measured the fundal height at a whopping 39 centimeters. Holy freakin' cow!! Of course, he took the measuring tape nearly up to my neck. At my 30 week appointment, my OB only measured 31 centimeters, which is more in line with expectations. Neither my OB nor I know what the heck that other guy was thinking, but I am less impressed with him today than I was 2 weeks ago. We left from the doctor’s office for the 4 hour drive home to the parents. Wednesday evening was a simple dinner out with my mother and my sister.

Thursday started with breakfast with my mother and then dinner with MTB’s family. While the B’s are good cooks, they are not my mother and it was not my mother’s cooking. This year, my mother is dealing with some issues and she decided not to cook – at all. I missed my mother’s overcooked pumpkin pie and the made from scratch cornbread dressing, and I had to make do with the Pepperidge Farms bagged dressing (just add chicken stock). No pumpkin pie for me, and I skipped the green Jell-o dish and the cheese mincemeat pie as well.

Friday was uneventful as my mother and I went shopping for a few things in the BRU sales flyer. I felt special as we parked in the expectant-mother’s parking space, but the selection of sale items still available was underwhelming. We ended up not buying a single thing.

Saturday, my mother in law hosted a get-together. I call it a get-together because I was adamant that I did not want a baby shower. Despite my wishes, friends and family arrived with tons of baby gifts, there were a few decorations and a yummy cake. Thankfully, there were no shower games. All in all, it was nice that so many people wanted to share in our joy and celebrate this little girl, and I am grateful that my mother in law did such a nice thing for us. Saturday evening, MTB, my mother and I went to see one of my high-school friends perform ‘60s music with her dad’s band. I haven’t seen them perform in years and it was a ton of fun. My little girl danced in my tummy as my friend sang lead on Tears of a Clown. It was awesome.

Sunday evening, I had dinner with my friend S, who gave me a beautiful poem her mother had written when she was pregnant with S. Her mother, who died almost 20 years ago, used to read the poem to her, and it means a lot that S wanted to share it with me. (I would like to share the poem here, but I didn't ask permission.) After dinner, I met up with my friend A, who has a 4 year old little boy, and he is absolutely adorable. The evening ended at my in-laws home with a cup of hot cocoa and a raging fire. Loved it!

MTB and I made the long drive home this morning, and it is great to be home. I haven’t slept well since we left, and I am so looking forward to sleeping through the night.

I can't believe you are at 30 weeks! It seems like you were just sharing your BFP news. I am so happy for you and can't wait to see pics of her. Happy healthy 10 more weeks. Oh, Maya was in the
85th% and yeah, it freaked me out just a little.

I cheated a little with my stuffing. I used the box, but added tons of stuff to make it tates homemade.

Glad to hear your back.

8 centimeter differential?! What a turkey! Glad you found out your child isn't a total monster, seriously.
Sucks you missed out on your mom's cooking this year. I think one of the few things I actually love about my inlaws is how good their cooking is. But that's about all the compliments I can give of them. ;-)
Pictures of baby stuff!!!!
*hugs*
