The name game

ChooChoo, ChooChoo, bo-boochoo,
Banana-fana fo-foochoo
Fee-fi-mo-moochoo
ChooChoo!

Our baby girl has a name other than ChooChoo. In fact, MTB and I named our children more than 9 years ago. We were on a short road trip when for whatever reason, we started talking about the children that we would one day have. At that point, we had no idea if we would get married much less ultimately conceive a child together, but we talked and joked as if we would. Boy/girl, first/middle - all are inspired by family names but not necessarily the exact same name. In the years since, we always referred to our future children by their names. (ChooChoo's working title/internet pseudonym came before we knew she is a girl.) Given that we decided on her name so long ago, MTB and I thought about giving more consideration, but we both decided that her name is perfect.

Her first name is unique, and according to this web site, it hasn't even been in the top 1000 names in several decades, but we love it. Her middle name is more popular, and it's been in the top 500 names for a while.

We haven't told anyone yet, and we will share on her birthday.

Love the secret, we are so with you guys on it. People cannot stand us for it, but I don't care.
I love uncommon names and I am so proud of ours... I cannot wait to hear yours!

You big tease!!!! I had a name picked out for a boy, but since I didn't tell anyone my cousin named her boy that name. Back to square one.

Can't wait to hear.

I wish I was one of those ppl who already had names picked out. DH and I do have random loose leaf laying around the house from the previous pg experiences where we got a little ahead of ourselves.

It's funny b/c when I find a sheet, I'll ask DH if he like the name "such-n-such" shown as something we agreed on a long time ago ... and he DOES still like it, and so do I ... gives me confidence that when we finally do have children, we won't regret what we name them!!! (a big fear when you don't have names picked out in advance like you do!!)

Ok, and btw ... you are SO FREAKIN' FUNNY ... I read your comment to my DH this morning and he was like "she's funny, I like her, where does she live?" I told him you were GU (geographically unavailable) but if I make it to TX anytime soon ... you know I'm going to demand a visit!!!

I'm excited to find out what it is, and impressed that you were able to decide on one so easily and stuck with it. Since we didn't find out the gender, we had to choose both names for a boy and a girl, and we still hadn't decided on a boy name when we went to the hospital. Claire didn't have a middle name for two days. We're both overly analytical, obviously!

I look forward to her birthday when we can know!
Al and I have had our names picked out for years too. A couple of them are very uncommon and I once made he mistake of telling my sister. She did not like it. But I don't care. She has terrible taste in names...

Good for you! People are so judgemental about names but once the baby is born, the name seems to fit perfectly. Can you imagine Nate and Alex as anything else??

Plus won't that be a fun thing to share with everyone on the big day?

My dream name for a girl my entire life was Morgan. I LOVE that name. Turns out that was Jon's family dog's name growing up. His senior high school picture was taken with Morgan. That was *almost* a deal-breaker.

Okay, I went to that name website that you linked and the first name I saw was Alfred. I'm thinking that isn't Choo-Choo's name...I was hoping for a clue!

Can't wait to hear what it is!!
